MediaTek, Microsoft Join Hands on Smartphone Design

Taiwan-based mobile phone IC designer MediaTek announced on February 9 that it has joined hands with Microsoft on developing a new multimedia Smartphone design, Taiwan's Central News Agency reported. Based on Microsoft's Windows Phone 6 platform, the new Smartphone is expected to feature a touch screen, mobile Internet access, and other wireless applications. It is reported that MediaTek and Microsoft aim their collaboration at the emerging markets, seeking to tap into the demand for value-line Smartphone products. The two companies are expected to unveil the result of their collaboration at Mobile World Congress 2010, which will be held on February 15 to 18 in Spain.
